Autograft OATS® Technique for the Knee

The disposable donor and recipient cutting tube sets of the Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System (OATS) kit facilitate harvesting osteochondral/hyaline cartilage cylinders of various diameters from a donor site superior and lateral to the notch or above the sulcus terminalis.

Sized to the proper depth to accept the donor graft, a recipient socket is created in the chondral defect, which is often located in the femoral condyle. The osteochondral autograft core is inserted with a collared pin delivery system for press-fit fixation. Harvest and insertion depths are controlled with depth markings. Final seating of the harvested cylinder, flush with the surrounding articular cartilage, is achieved with a slightly larger-diameter sizer/tamp.
