Frakturen des Fußes sind eine häufige Verletzung. Dabei sind oft die Mittelfußknochen (Metatarsale) betroffen.&nbsp; Akute Fußfrakturen werden in der Regel durch Fallenlassen eines schweren Gegenstandes auf den Fuß oder durch wiederholte Traumata im Zusammenhang mit einer Überbelastung verursacht.&nbsp; Bei schlechter Knochenqualität können derartige Stressfrakturen bereits unter normaler Belastung auftreten. &nbsp;Die chirurgische Versorgung von Mittelfußknochenfrakturen kann mithilfe verschiedener Produkte erfolgen. Dazu zählen u.&nbsp;a. kanülierte Schrauben, massive Schrauben,&nbsp;Trim-It-Bio-Pins, winkelstabile und nicht winkelstabile Platten. &nbsp;

Durch einen langen Kleinzeh kann es zu Zehdeformitäten kommen. Um zukünftigen Komplikationen wie z. B. dem Riss der plantaren Platte, der Hammerzehe, der Krallenzehe und dem Digitus superductus (Crossover Toe) vorzubeugen, kann eine metatarsale Verkürzung durchgeführt werden. Wenn die genannten Komplikationen bereits bestehen, kann der Operateur eine metatarsale Verkürzungsosteotomie zur Dekompression des MTP-Gelenks durchführen und damit die Spannung auf das dynamische Weichgewebe reduzieren.

Der anwenderfreundliche Trim-It Pin mit 2 mm Durchmesser passt in jedes Standard-Drahtsetzinstrument, wodurch das Einbringen erheblich erleichtert wird. Das PLLA-Material weist im Vergleich zu anderen auf dem Markt erhältlichen resorbierbaren Pins eine bessere Scherfestigkeit auf. Hierdurch ist eine anatomische und für den Patienten ästhetisch ansprechende Stellung des Zehs nach der Implantation (Zehenarthrodese in Beugung) möglich. 
 
Trim-It Pins können außerdem bei Bunionektomien des Metatarsale I, Resektionen des proximalen Interphalangealgelenks, Sprunggelenkfrakturen und zur Fixierung von Knorpelfragmenten eingesetzt werden.

Trim-It Pins™ erleichtern die Pin-Platzierung. Mit dem Standard-Pin-Setzinstrument mit Schnellverschluss kann der Operateur jetzt in einem Arbeitsschritt bohren und den Pin platzieren. Der bioresorbierbare Anteil des Pins sitzt während des Bohrens im Setzinstrument. Die Metallspitze wird über die hintere Kortikalis hinaus gebohrt und mit der Knochenzange oder dem Hot Loop Cutter abgeschnitten. Trim-It Pins™ ermöglichen eine vorläufige oder endgültige Stabilisierung kleiner Frakturfragmente bei periartikulären Verletzungen. Unter Erhalt der initialen Reposition können die Frakturen ohne störende Hardware-Prominenz mit Platten und Schrauben endgültig fixiert werden.

Das DynaNite PIP-Hammerzeh-Implantat ist eine kanülierte Nitinol-Lösung mit Gewinde für Hammerzehdeformitäten. Die Widerhaken des Implantats werden durch Einführen eines K-Drahts verlängert und bleiben aufgrund der Materialeigenschaften von Nitinol fixiert. Aufgrund der Kanülierung können Operateure bei Bedarf das MTP-Gelenk mit dem K-Draht kreuzen und das Implantat präzise bohren und einsetzen. Die Implantate sind in den Größen 12, 14 und 16 mm erhältlich.
