SpeedPearl: Suture Retrieval During Hip Arthroscopy 

Suture passage and retrieval during hip arthroscopy is important to ensure an anatomic labour repair. During traditional suture passage, the suture can fall into the inferior joint and is difficult to retrieve. It often requires multiple repeated attempts to then retrieve the suture. One way to avoid this and optimize suture passage is the technique we coined, the bow tie technique. As you can see, this technique allows the suture to expand within the joint. The suture stays in place and allows for easy retrieval without multiple attempts. This helps minimize penetration through the chondrolabral junction and potential iatrogenic chondral damage.
