Strengthening Surgical Excellence: Arthrex Milwaukee's Partnership With Stoughton Health

As a sports medicine surgeon, I think it's really important to have good arthroscopy equipment and audio visual in the operating room. So I think having the latest up to date equipment is very important. We've been working as an agency, partnered with Arthrex with Stoughton Hospital for the last couple of years here, recently successfully completing a couple of very innovative operating rooms. It started off as a small project, and once they got to understand us and our technology and they got to understand what services we could provide in the local ability to serve them, it grew in scope that included both video and integration from our side, but also lights and booms from our partner side. They've been there to support the surgeons, to make sure that the surgeon feels comfortable, and also the techs and the nurses when there's something that needs to be addressed. If I had questions on things, I could pick up the phone and give them a call. They were right there. The Arthrex representatives from Enduro Med have been integral. They were the first step in making this happen, and they've been supportive all the way throughout. We are in contact and actually quite frequently to make sure that all of the needs are met. And we make sure that future updates are all appropriate and timely.

Synergy Matrix™ OR Video Integration Overview

Hi, my name is Ryan Keller, product manager with the Synergy Imaging Team. I would like to introduce you to our synergy matrix or integration solution. As you can see around me, the room is very modern and clean. We were able to bring significant innovation, like our core procedure specific products into this integration surgical visualization space. Our synergy matrix solution is unique in that it runs over a fiber optic IP network. This allows the ability not only to route internally to different spaces in your primary or but externally, whether that's room to room. For example, we have a lot of resident and fellowship programs out there, so for the surgeon to optimize efficiency, they have the ability to now share feeds as well as audio to an observation room or even to a lecture hall for educational events. We require significant reductions in terms of cabinetry, which have typically been built around traditional integration solutions. We house a network switch located in a secure IT closet location, protected with all of the other network infrastructure from your network backbone brought into the room. We're able to connect all of your surgical displays with all of your plates around the room, which are able to accept all of your inputs, whether that's a microscope, c-arm, or other video signals that you would like to route around the space. Our solution is very easy. Upon installation, we provide services in terms of servicing, but also our solution is very unique in that the tablet user interface has all of your destinations labeled with a live feed of what is actually routed to it, and on the right hand side you have all of your inputs. So again, those plates strategically placed around the Or for efficiency. As you plug in a device, you see a live thumbnail of what that device is capable of routing to that surgical display. An or integration solution requires a lot of planning. One unique resource that Arthrex offers is a fully dedicated project management team to the installation of your or integration solution, whether it's a retrofit or a new build, we get involved early on in the process and planning for that installation, just like our SynergyRF 4K system being software, not hardware based. Same with our synergy matrix solution. We can provide different inputs for you as you grow with technology inside the or whether it's a new microscope or a or a new CRM. Maybe it's an upgraded image. We're able to then scale you and grow with you over time and not requiring another hardware purchase. Another unique feature with Synergy Matrix is the ability for remote support capabilities. Typical integration solutions required a lot of cable management inside the Or so. If an issue occurred, oftentimes that or could be down for multiple days prior to resolution. Our system allows remote monitoring from any location, whether it's in our Santa Barbara office here in Naples and our regionally located service team, we now have secure insight into the facility's system health. We oftentimes diagnose issues off hours. So when that first case starts for the day, if there was something occurring overnight, typically that case is now running seamless and smooth. Now I would like to introduce you to our Synergy Matrix Integration routing PC. The PC can be strategically placed around the Or near a circulating desk or nurses station for easy access and efficient access. There are unique features in the user interface, and that you have live labels of all the surgical displays of what source is routed to them and on the right. Live images are labels of each source that is providing a video feed to be routed to the infield. Surgical displays. The user interface allows the user to dual view any surgical display, while also quad viewing any 4K surgical display that you have in the field. This allows the user the ability to route a PACs, MRI image and X-ray c-arm image, or even an Enlight camera near the surgical field in addition to your surgical visualization feed. There are other features like the surgical PTZ camera or pan tilt zoom function, which allows the user to zoom down on the surgical site, maybe the back table, while also allowing a view in for the surgical or dashboard command center. We have the ability to route audio similar to the video feeds, and that we can route internal or external from any input to any speaker location. The matrix integration solution can be fully customizable based on facility surgeon and administrative staff preference.

Improving Surgery Through the Synergy Product Line at Memorial Hermann

My name is Danita Fleming. I'm the administrator and CEO of the Memorial Hermann Surgery Center at Texas Medical Center. Our surgery center is located in the Texas Medical Center. We cater to high profile VIP type of clientele. Here we have seven operating rooms and two procedure rooms. We are multi-specialty. All of our surgery specialties use the Synergy Matrix platform. Gyn general Surgery and urology are the primary ones that use it in addition to orthopedic. Those surgeons love it compared to what we had before. Well, my name is Walt Lowe or Walter Arlow, M.D. I'm the chair of orthopedic surgery at University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, or UT health. You know, I've been through every arthroscopy system there is, you know, 25 years in practice doing pretty much just arthroscopic cases for the most part. And so the, you know, the synergy system is the best I've encountered. Optics are just spectacular. As arthroscopic surgeons, what we all want the most is to see great because you can't work if you can't see visual effect that we get from the synergy, I think is far superior to anything I've ever used. But really, I think where the rooms differentiate themselves is the integration of the system between, you know, handpieces, suction shavers, pumps, video, anything we want to bring up in the rooms, very easy to coordinate and very easy to see. And I not only think that makes us better at what we do, I think it makes it easier for us to teach our residents, to teach our fellows the things that are really important, besides just how to do the surgery. With the synergy. It's it was real easy to learn by yourself, and then it's easy to do it by yourself, which definitely saves times in the O.R.. Touch screen or drag and drop. There's two tabs on the system that you work from, and from putting images on the screen to just playing music in the background. For The Doctors, it's super simple from what we had before. I didn't know that was complicated until we got synergy. So getting something that was much more up to date and user friendly was a change I didn't know was so convenient for, I guess, the O.R. staff as a whole. Making the change over to Arthrex has helped us out tremendously. The biggest help for us is that we will be able to sterilize Sterilized the system in an autoclave. We're able to get have more sets ready to be more productive during the day, and you cut down on time and cost, being able to sterilize at a much quicker pace. The surgical team is much happier. They don't have to wait and try to have to explain to the surgeon, you know what we're waiting on or why we're delayed because everything's ready to go. The installation process went very smoothly without a hitch. It actually exceeded my expectations. A lot of planning, a lot of preparation, and for myself, even a little bit of contingency planning. Fortunately, we didn't have to use any of those contingency plans. I can truly be a spokesperson for the Synergy Matrix and for Arthrex, and let the administrators know that this is not another example of a product that overpromise and under-deliver. It truly does what Arthrex says that it will do. A company very interested in delivering the best products for the problems we're trying to solve as surgeons, and that's what I really love about the company, is if it's going to make it better patient care, then I know Arthrex is going to be 100% invested to try to get there and do it better than anybody else is.

Benefits of Synergy Matrix™ 4K Integrated OR

My name is Sam Kaufman. I'm the CEO of Henderson Hospital. Henderson Hospital is a brand new hospital. We just opened up October 31st of 2016. We're the sixth hospital in the Valley Health System. The first hospital in Henderson. Market surgery will be a big service of ours. We've put a lot of time and effort and money into a lot of antimicrobial technologies here special lighting, special countertops, and we wanted to make sure we were collaborating with our physicians and surgeons to give them what they really wanted. They told us that the Synergy Matrix integration package with Arthrex is what they wanted, and we worked on making that a reality. My decision to come to Henderson Hospital is in large part based on the fact of the technology. This includes the synergy system and the matrix integration. So the integration system in the O.R. has been very helpful. I didn't realize how helpful it would be to make the case easier for me. It went smoother. It was a lot easier to see the imaging. It's helped in the arthroscopic cases as well as the arthroscopic trauma cases that I've used it on. The 4K resolution is just phenomenal. The pictures that my surgeons get during their procedures are second to none, and the integration capabilities are terrific. It gives them the capabilities of being in the room next door. I'm back. Dictating. They've integrated the cameras. So, I mean, no, no hospital has this where I can actually see what's going on in the operating room so I can be efficient with my time dictating, coding, getting everything done I need to do. And when I see that their patient's being prepped and draped, I'm walking back there and nobody needs to call me. The service that Arthrex is providing on the matrix has been second to none. Done a great job having expert staff here that fixes whatever we need. They monitor our system from afar and they picked up something and had it installed. And I don't even think any of our people here actually noticed there was an issue. The training that is involved was done very seamlessly. Our nurses always felt like they were adequately supported. They always had a tech around them that could answer questions for them. It has a very intuitive user interface and if it becomes too complicated, people will not use it. And it was by far the simplest platform out. For me as a surgeon. There's really no setup involved with it. I show up in the operating room. Everything's set for me. If I say, let's get this on video, they capture it on video, and at the end of the case, they download all those captured images into my iPad and I'm gone. So the Arthrex matrix system, in my opinion, smashes the competition in regards to the user interface, the ease of use, level of quality, the 4K video displays. It is absolutely stunning. It's noticeable. There was no comparison to 4K from Arthrex was just absolutely a spectacular picture. Picture quality is very, very detailed. I think best in the industry. This relationship that we've forged with Arthrex contributes more to physician satisfaction. Having great surgeons and happy surgeons and engaged surgeons, I think the technology has a big, you know, a big say about that.
