An Akin osteotomy is a medial closing wedge osteotomy of the proximal phalanx of the great toe. It is used to correct hallux valgus interphalangeus. The Akin osteotomy is usually a component of a primary procedure in which a hallux valgus deformity is corrected. The osteotomy site is fixed with a DynaNite™ Nitinol staple, low-profile QuickFix™ cannulated screw, QuickFix Staples, or Plaple® fixation system.

A chevron osteotomy is the most common technique used to correct mild to moderate bunion deformities. Traditionally, this procedure has been performed through an open approach. However, since the advent of minimally invasive surgery (MIS), surgeons now have the option to perform a chevron osteotomy through small percutaneous incisions. Following the osteotomy, the capital fragment is shifted laterally and fixated with either Compression FT screws for the MIS approach or Compression PT screws for the traditional open approach.

The Arthrex CFS plating system combines many of our current midfoot, forefoot, and hindfoot plate and screw systems into one set (AR-8950S). The set is conveniently divided into 2.4/3.0 mm and 3.5/4.0 mm (AR-8950S-01 and AR-8950S-02) modules that house the new Metatarsal Plates, TMT Plates, x-Plates, and newly revised H-Plates. Also included in the set are the Lapidus, Lisfranc, Opening Wedge, and MTP Plates. Screws are provided in locking and nonlocking options for 2.4 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm sizes along with 3 mm and 4 mm cannulated screws. Presenting all of these components in one set gives surgeons the flexibility to choose the ideal plating system for any need. In addition, the new Mini Joint Distractor offers greater flexibility for joint preparation, visualization, and intraoperative compression of the fracture or fusion site.

Comprehensive Fixation System

Arthrex has developed a comprehensive, completely disposable system for various augmentation procedures about the forefoot. Most commonly, this implant system can be used for crossover toe deformities of the lesser digits.

The InternalBrace surgical technique is intended only to augment the primary repair/reconstruction by expanding the area of tissue approximation during the healing period and is not intended as a replacement for the native ligament. The InternalBrace technique is for use during soft tissue-to-bone fixation procedures and is not cleared for bone-to-bone fixation.

Correction of claw or hammer toe deformity can be achieved using various techniques, including proximal interphalangeal joint arthrodesis (PIPJ). &nbsp;Interphalangeal Joint Fusion can be accomplished using the Arthrex&nbsp;Trim-It&nbsp;Pins and&nbsp;Trim-It&nbsp;Spin Pins.

More than a plate, this is a complete system for joint preparation and fixation for the treatment of severe hallux rigidus and other MTP pathologies. Whether used in primary or revision cases, this system enables surgeons to reduce, compress, and lock the 1st metatarsal phalangeal joint in the ideal position for arthrodesis. Low Profile MTP Plates andScrews

The Low Profile System (LPS) includes a complete screw and instrument set primarily for forefoot applications. The LPS 2 mm, 2.3 mm, 3 mm Screw Set includes the 2 mm and 3 mm QuickFix "snap off" screws, the 2.3 mm cannulated, and solid screws along with the new 3 mm cannulated partially threaded screws. The square instrument tray is only 9.5 x 9.5 x 2 inches deep and includes a screw system with four low profile fixation options.

Low Profile Screw Set

The MaxForce MTP plates use two modes of compression to help provide maximized compression of the arthrodesis site. In addition to a standard oblong compression hole with eccentric drilling, these plates use a unique compression mechanism that allows surgeons to manually dial in compression for MTP fusions. The teeth in the plate align with the teeth on the compression device to work like gears. As the compression device is turned clockwise, the plate shifts proximally, compressing the MTP joint.
In addition, the new flat head cortical screws create a zero profile when seated fully into the plate, dramatically reducing hardware prominence.
Combined with an array of plate lengths and curvatures, the new MaxForce MTP plating system has been designed to offer surgeons the most comprehensive, compressive and lowest profile construct on the market today.

MaxForce™ MTP Plates

A long lesser metatarsal can lead to common toe problems. A metatarsal shortening osteotomy can help prevent future complications, including plantar plate tears leading to crossover toe deformities, as well as hammer toes and claw toes. Once these complications have occurred, the surgeon may choose a metatarsal shortening osteotomy to decompress the MTP joint and decrease the tension on dynamic soft tissues.

The low-profile MTP system offers a variety of solutions ranging from tools for joint preparation to plates and screws allowing unique compression and fixation when it comes to treating severe hallux rigidus and other MTP pathologies. Whether a primary or revision case, this system enables surgeons to confidently reduce, compress, and lock the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint in the ideal position for arthrodesis.
