For surgeons that prefer a traditional plating approach, Arthrex offers the versatile proximal 1st metatarsal osteotomy plate. Ludloff, Mau, proximal, crescentic, proximal Chevron, and Scarf osteotomies can all be fixated using the same plate. Arthrex also offers proximal opening wedge osteotomy plates to reduce the IM angle.

The Low Profile System (LPS) includes a complete screw andinstrument set primarily for forefoot applications. The LPS 2 mm, 2.3 mm, 3 mmScrew Set includes the 2 mm and 3 mm QuickFix "snap off" screws, the2.3 mm cannulated, and solid screws along with the new 3 mm cannulatedpartially threaded screws. The squareinstrument tray is only 9.5 x 9.5 x 2 inches deep andincludes a screw system with four low profile fixation options.

Low Profile Screw Set

Proximal metatarsal osteotomies work well to achieve reliable deformity correction in patients with a large 1st-2nd intermetatarsal angle. They may help minimize rotation, shortening, and elevation of the metatarsal. A number of osteotomy techniques have been described, including Ludloff, Mau, proximal crescentic, proximal chevron, scarf, opening wedge, and closing wedge, among others.
The Proximal 1st Metatarsal Osteotomy Plate works with osteotomies where the proximal 1.5 cm of the 1st metatarsal is preserved to allow for placement of locking screws. This plate can be used alone or as an adjunct to screw fixation.
