During arthroscopic surgeries, position the knee safely, effectively, and easily using limb positioners.

Thomas R. Carter, MD, (Phoenix, AZ) presents the Arthrex® PivotPost, a lateral post that moves in three planes. This allows it to be easily placed in the proper position to the patient and also to pivot out of the way when not in use. The unique over‐the‐top sweeping design prevents the patient’s leg from moving over the post when valgus stress or a figure‐four position is applied.

PivotPost Full Motion Lateral Post for Knee Arthroscopy

The Arthrex post has a special adapter that makes it very easy to apply on the side of the bed. It does not have to be in a specific position to put on, and it's very easy to slide up and down if you need to adjust the position of the holder, and even underneath of the drapes. One can easily grab to rotate it up and away and very easily have fixation with the holder secured. The pivot post glides very easily up and down to adjust the height. The custom adapter can be applied easily to the bed. The knob is pulled out to adjust the height of the base and the button push to rotate it 90 degrees out of the way. A foam pad with Velcro straps can be applied to provide some cushion between the device and the leg. The height is adjusted to accommodate the knee and pushed in so that the knee does not rotate upward or outward. Because of its low profile, it easily fits underneath. The drape also is accessible underneath the drapes, with the valgus stress shown to open up widely and preventing the knee from rotating upward, as would a lateral post. It is then moved 90 degrees out of the way to accommodate a figure of four position, or being able to bend the knee up. When drilling in Anteromedial portal for an ACL, foam pad is removed and ready for the next case.
