Beim DoveTail-Meniskus-Allograft-System kommt ein trapezförmiges Knochenblock-Allotransplantat mit direkter Knochen-Knochen-Verankerung zum Einsatz, so dass keine weitere Transplantatfixierung erforderlich ist. Das Instrumentarium erlaubt eine mühelose und einheitliche Präparation der Empfängerstelle und der Trapezform des allogenen Knochenblocks.

Die DoveTail-Technik erleichtert die Transplantatpräparation durch eine Reihe von zeitsparenden Schnitten, durch die die Knochenkomponente des Transplantats so präpariert wird, dass das Transplantat sicher in dem tibialen halbtrapezförmigen Empfängerschlitz sitzt. Der präparierte Knochenblock passt exakt in den halbtrapezförmigen Empfängerschlitz, der mithilfe von Stufenbohrern, Raspatorien und Dilatatoren in der Tibia angelegt wurde. Durch die nachfolgende Transplantatfixierung am Kapselrand mit 2-0 FiberWire® wird ein solides Transplantatkonstrukt erzielt. Die DoveTail-Technik wird bevorzugt bei der Versorgung einer Insuffizienz des Außenmeniskus angewendet und ermöglicht eine anatomische Rekonstruktion der normalen Verhältnisse des Außenmeniskus im Knie.
