FiberWire® and TigerWire®

Various methods and suture patterns are described for repairing flexor / extensor tendons and their use varies by the surgeon’s preference. FiberWire’s superior strength and reliability makes FiberWire an ideal choice when performing a Suture Flexor/Extensor Repair. FiberWire is constructed of a multi-stranded, long chain, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) core with a braided jacket of polyester and UHMWPE. This combination provides a high strength, soft suture with abrasion resistance that virtually eliminates suture breakage during knot tying and is found to be five times more abrasion resistant than standard polyester sutures.

FiberWire® Suture Flexor/Extensor Repair

Part of the FiberWire® family, TigerWire® suture uses the same high strength construction as FiberWire except that it contains a black marker strand in the suture weave. This strand appears as a stripe in the suture, making suture identification easier during joint reconstruction and soft tissue repairs. The CMC Ligament Reconstruction Kit provides a convenient all-in-one solution for ligament reconstruction of the base of the thumb. The Tenodesis Screw with a convenient disposables kit the CMC Ligament Reconstruction Kit will enable a faster, more convenient repair providing strong and immediate fixation of the tendon graft. 

 
With the included Guidewire and 4 mm cannulated Drill Bit, the bone tunnel at the base of the first metacarpal is established. The QuickPass Tendon Shuttle is included to allow for hassle-free passage of the tendon graft through the prepared tunnel. The 4 mm x 10 mm PEEK Tenodesis Screw provides strong and immediate fixation of the graft, which allows for a more robust repair and enables precision tensioning of the graft. A complete Bio-Tenodesis master set is available if additional sizes are desired.

FiberWire® and TigerWire® Sutures

FiberWire® suture can be used for open Achilles repair. As compared to standard polyester suture, FiberWire suture has superior strength that provides tighter loop security during knot tying and increased knot integrity, while reducing knot profile.1

PARS SutureTape Technique for Achilles Rupture

After removal or resection of the trapezium the FCR tendon is routed through the base of the 1st metacarpal via a pre drilled and sized hole. The Arthrex QuickPass Tendon Shuttle is used to help facilitate passage of the tendon through the drill tunnel. Once passed the graft is tensioned to obtain appropriate suspension and a 4 x 10 or 4.75 x 15 tenodesis screw is advanced to lock the graft into position. The remaining tendon tails can be cut flush or interposed into the joint space if desired.

Ligament Reconstruction - Tendon Interposition

Arthrex offers a wide variety of suture with needles, including SutureTape, FiberWire®, TigerWire®, and #2 FiberWire suture.
SutureTape is a flat-braided suture more resistant to tissue pull-through,1 offering improved handling and stronger knot security1 with smaller, comparable knot stacks.
FiberWire and TigerWire suture are both high-strength options available on implants and packaged separately with and without needles. FiberWire suture is constructed of a multistrand long chain ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene core with a braided jacket of polyester and UHMWPE that&nbsp;provides strength, abrasion resistance, and a soft feel.&nbsp;FiberWire suture is blue and TigerWire suture is white with a black stripe in the suture for easy identification.
#2 FiberWire suture on straight needles comes in two needle options: a single needle attached to 38 in of #2 FiberWire suture or two needles each attached to an end of 38 in of #2 FiberWire suture. These are ideal for creating a variety locking stitch patterns for avulsions of large tendons, such as the quadriceps, patellar, pectoral, or Achilles.
