The technique used with the Dovetail Meniscal Transplant Set creates a trapezoidal bone block allograft for a bone-to-bone interlock, requiring no additional bone graft fixation. The soft tissue/meniscus portion of the graft still needs to be sutured/fixed. The instrumentation easily and consistently prepares the patient's recipient trough and the trapezoidal shape of the allograft's bone block.

Procedure

The dovetail technique simplifies graft preparation with a time-saving series of cuts preparing the bone component of the graft to sit securely in the recipient semi-trapezoidal slot created in the tibia. A matching semi-trapezoidal shaped recipient slot created in the tibia with a series of step drills, rasps and dilators matches the bone block preparation. Subsequent peripheral graft fixation to the capsular rim with 2-0 FiberWire® achieves the goal of creating a solid meniscal allograft construct. Preferably performed for lateral meniscal incompetence, the dovetail technique anatomically recreates the normal lateral meniscal relationships within the knee.

The Glenoid Bone Loss Set includes unique instrumentation and implants to make the open Latarjet technique more consistent and repeatable. The Congruent Arc Latarjet Technique involves dissecting the coracoacromial ligament and pectoralis minor from the coracoid and performing a coracoid osteotomy. A grasping coracoid drill guide is used to prepare two parallel holes in the coracoid graft, which then mate with one of the glenoid parallel drill guides. The cannulated guide allows the graft to be positioned on the glenoid, while guidewires are placed through the graft and into the glenoid. Self-drilling, self-tapping 3.75 mm titanium cannulated screws are then placed over the guidewires to secure the graft into position.
