The Double Bone Plug technique for meniscal tear/deficiency utilizes bone plugs that can either be prepared freehand or by using a coring reamer. The freehand technique is performed using rongeurs and a high speed burr. The double bone plug technique for meniscal allograft reconstruction provides a method for implanting the meniscal allograft medially with rigid fixation at both horn attachments. It has been demonstrated that bony fixation and bony healing at the attachment site allows for the maintenance of functional hoop stress by the meniscal allograft.

Arthrex Double Bundle PCL Guides were developed to accurately and reproducibly create femoral tunnels during arthroscopic double-bundle PCL reconstruction. Specially designed guides simplify guide pin placement for anterolateral and posteromedial femoral tunnel sockets drilled arthroscopically from an anterolateral portal. During anterolateral tunnel placement, a guide can be used to reference and offset the tunnel 2 mm from the articular cartilage margin or as a visual aid that simulates exact tunnel position and size. The guides will mimic the subsequent drill hole and, therefore, make exact tunnel placement possible. Refer to the products tab for a detailed outline of additional products used in this technique.

Double Bundle PCL Technique

The GraftLink technique provides the ultimate in anatomic, minimally invasive, and reproducible ACL reconstruction. Used in combination with anatomic guides, the FlipCutter® III drill allows independent femoral and tibial "retrodrilling" to create sockets while maintaining the cortices to maximize fixation. Femoral and tibial TightRope® II implants, with a proprietary 5-point locking system, make the GraftLink technique the most reproducible ACL reconstruction available.

GraftLink® Technique

Low-profile reamers facilitate femoral socket preparation through the medial portal and also allow greater flexibility in femoral socket placement for transtibial procedures. The reamer's extra thin shaft and “2-flute” design provide a flat profile that easily passes through the portal and avoids damaging the femoral condyle and PCL. The reduced length of the flutes allows the drill to spin without contacting PCL fibers. Low-profile reamers may be used with the Arthrex Transportal ACL Guides for anatomic guide pin placement through the medial portal.

Low Profile Reamers

Arthrex offers several options for femoral ACL socket creation through the medial portal. Dedicated transportal offset guides and low-profile reamers work together to facilitate visualization and help minimize possible damage to the medial femoral condyle while drilling in the hyperflexed position. The Arthrex Flexible Reamer System reduces the need for knee flexion during socket creation and may allow for longer sockets and better orientation.

Medial Portal Femoral Socket Preparation

The streamlined PCL ToolBox contains all the necessary instruments for performing a variety of modern PCL reconstruction techniques. The set includes the RetroConstruction™ Drill Guide System with drill sleeves for use with the FlipCutter® reamer, RetroDrill® reamer, and standard 2.4 mm guide pins.
Femoral and tibial RetroConstruction marking hooks allow, reproducible placement of pins and drills into the anatomic footprints. Also included in the set are double-bundle femoral drill guides, curved instruments for tibial preparation, a knee obturator for safe and easy posterior portal placement, the "worm" graft passer, tunnel plugs, drills, screwdrivers, notchers, and other accessories.
