Partial Sternotomy Stabilization Using FiberTape® Sternal Closure and DynaNite™ CT Nitinol Staples
Marc W. Gerdisch, MD (Indianapolis, IN), demonstrates a technique for reinforcing and closing a partial sternotomy using a combination of FiberTape® sternal closure and DynaNite® CT nitinol staples. After evaluating sternal depth to determine the appropriate staple sizing, the sternum is approximated with FiberTape sternal closure sutures before drilling and deploying the DynaNite CT staples to provide targeted compression across areas such as the J-incision and the manubrium, helping address residual gapping or motion that may remain after approximation.
