As a global manufacturer of medical devices, we are market leaders in the fields of product development and orthopedic medical training. Our company mission lies in helping surgeons treat their patients better. Arthrex is a real pioneer in the field of arthroscopy, and has developed over 11 000 innovative products and surgical procedures that are improving minimally invasive orthopedic procedures all over the world.
Here at Arthrex, we are continuing to record unprecedented levels of growth worldwide and increasing demand for our products. Nevertheless, we remain a privately owned company with the feel of a family company and the ambition to provide uncompromising quality for the medical specialists who use our products and for the millions of patients whose lives are ultimately in our hands.
Being aware of the global impacts that our business activities have on the environment inspires us to act in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, which is something that we are strongly committed to.
Arthrex has been advocating for the protection of resources for many years now. During the construction of our new buildings, for example, a conscious effort was made to use minimum sealing of the site area, LED lighting in the building and no fossil fuels for thermal energy. We also switched to green energy. The importance we place on increasing employees' environmental awareness can also be seen on a daily basis at Arthrex: Rubbish separation in the kitchenettes, the use of electric company cars, the collection of empty printer toner cartridges and their recycling via the manufacturer's return system as well as office materials made from recycled materials are just a few aspects of our corporate environmental protection measures.
The services we provide to customers include the option of having a product repaired based on a qualified damage analysis. The repair of devices and components contributes to the conservation of resources and helps increase a product's life cycle.
In order to continue increasing our environmental performance by means of continual improvement and productive ideas, an Environment team was set up with a regular rotation of members. The team consists of eight to ten people from a wide range of different sectors, and meets at least once every quarter as well as on an as-needed basis in order to discuss new ideas, targets, actions and environmental data.
The wealth of existing environmental protection measures formed the foundation for the decision to introduce and certify an environmental management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001, and to participate in the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). As an EMAS-registered organization, we voluntarily adhere to strict requirements that go beyond the statutory minimum requirements, and publicly demonstrate our binding obligation to environmental protection.
