Medial Calcaneal Osteotomy Using the Arthrex 5 mm Calcaneus Step Plate

Luke Cicchinelli, DPM, (Mesa, AZ) demonstrates medial calcaneal osteotomy using the 5 mm Calcaneal Step Plate. Dr. Cicchinelli performs the repair via a lateral incision and uses the Calcaneal Step Plate to dial-in the desired correction. This titanium plate comes with steps of 5 mm, 7.5 mm, and 10 mm. The plate creates a firm buttress to prevent redisplacement of a calcaneal-sliding osteotomy. The procedure requires little to no fluoroscopy. The implant does not violate the heel pad, and provides rigid fixation with added dynamic compression slot. 3.5 mm locking, 3.5 mm cortical, and 4.0 mm cancellous screws are used to secure this plate to bone.
