Carol’s Unforgettable Solo Trip to Iceland

CarolMackinTOLBusiness Analyst II Carol Mackin recently returned from a remarkable trip to Iceland as part of Arthrex’s celebrated Trip of a Lifetime program. She shared about her travels:

“I had always wanted to visit Iceland, so it was easy to decide where to travel for my five-year trip! I was looking for a tour group to travel with and participate in a wide range of activities, so for part of my trip, I worked with the Under 30 Experiences company.

I traveled around South Iceland with about 15 people from the Under 30 Experiences group for five days, and then spent a few more days traveling by myself in Reykjavik. It was easy to navigate around town and I enjoyed the many different attractions, shops and restaurants.

The weather was nice for October, which is a notoriously variable month, so we were able to go horseback riding and hiking in addition to sight-seeing. We also got to walk across a glacier, which is something I never expected I’d do! I will never forget the view and the unique setting of the ice because it will never be the exact same look as it changes with the weather.

After the group tour, I spent a few more days traveling by myself in Reykjavik. The fresh fish was delicious in any form (in stew, soup, grilled or fried). It was easy to navigate around town and I enjoyed the many different attractions, shops and restaurants. The volcano museum was, by far, the most interesting, I wasn’t aware of how many active and visible volcanoes were in Iceland!

CarolMackinTOLI love traveling and this vacation not only let me see beautiful places, but meet wonderful people. I am so thankful that the Trip of a Lifetime benefit gave me the opportunity to try something completely different and celebrate five strong years so far at Arthrex!”
