Team Arthrex Takes First Place in Canoe Race for Charity
Senior Research & Development Designer Jerome Gulvas and Senior Arthroplasty Product Manager Nick Metcalfe paddled their way into first place in the VIP Tippy Canoe one-mile sprint at Naples’ Back to the Future themed 41st Annual Great Dock Canoe Race on May 6, 2017.
Jerome and Nick raced in the carbon fiber “Arthrex Power” canoe, finishing in first place for the first time since Team Arthrex’s back-to-back wins in 2013 and 2014. Jerome, a Canoe Race veteran shared, “The canoe race tradition is a great time, a great race and it’s for a great cause. It’s nice to have these types of events that are not only a lot of fun, but also very charitable. We are very fortunate to work for an amazing company that helps continue that.”
Arthrex has been a proud sponsor of the Great Dock Canoe Race for years, a Naples tradition that began in 1977 and now attracts about 1,500 people each year. This year’s charitable beneficiary was Youth Haven, which has provided shelter, child and family counseling and preventative programs to strengthen families in Collier County for more than 40 years.
