5 Questions with Learning & Development Specialist Jennifer McCue
After spending 20 years as a high school teacher and college professor in Chicago and Southwest Florida, Jennifer McCue brought her passion for teaching to the corporate world when she joined Arthrex in October 2017 as a Learning & Development Specialist in the Human Resources department.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I love being here because there is no typical day for me. Every day is different because I teach Learning & Development courses at all locations. That’s what’s so exciting about this job because I’m always getting to meet different people at the different locations.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I really love the culture and how people really value you here. It’s very much a teamwork environment. Coming from academia, the resources are unbelievable at Arthrex. They want you to learn and grow here personally and professionally. I love that I’m constantly learning.
What has been a highlight during your time at Arthrex?
Being the first person new employees meet at Arthrex. I have the ability to communicate our mission statement, core values and innovative culture at Arthrex. I am able to share that passion in a way that enables others to feel passionate, too.
What is the best advice you’ve received throughout your career?
I have a quote that I live by personally and professionally from Maya Angelou:
"At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel."
It’s a great feeling that I’m making an impact on employees.
What do you do in your downtime?
I love to paddleboard, read and be with my 15-year-old son Aiden, family and friends.
