Employee Spotlight: Kevin Fowler - Estates Elementary Principal for a Day
Kevin Fowler, AMI employee relations specialist, had the opportunity to be "Principal for a Day" at Estates Elementary School on October 30, 2014. As principal, Kevin toured the school, shadowed teachers and met students. He shares more about his experience:
"I had a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Principal for a Day program at Estates Elementary School, not far from our AMI East facilities. I was there to shadow Principal Sheryl Rogers and to participate in the regular activities taking place that day. The day started with announcements led by some of the students at the school. As we toured the school and the classrooms, I was amazed at how respectful the students were to the Principal and the 'Principal for a Day.' The students were genuinely excited to see us come into their classrooms and were not shy to introduce themselves. I was also able to sit in on a collaborative planning session with the 2nd Grade teachers. This is something relatively new at the school which gives the teachers a chance to plan their upcoming week together and ensure that they are consistent with the lessons and the goals they want to achieve."
Overall, the experience was very enriching. One thing in particular stood out for me that day - when students found out that I work for Arthrex they were quick to ask if I knew their uncle, mother or brother. I received a similar reaction from the school staff members. It is amazing to see the impact and reach that Arthrex's reputation has on our community!"
