Arthrex's Heart Hero Lillie Simmons
As the No. 1 killer of American men and women, heart disease affects the lives of many Arthrex employees and their families. For this reason, Arthrex is a proud local cause sponsor of the Go Red For Women® movement, among other American Heart Association initiatives.
Arthrex has its own
"heart hero" in Medical Education Coordinator Lillie Simmons.
After discovering last year that she had an undiagnosed atrial septal defect
from birth, Lillie underwent surgery to repair a nickel-sized hole in her
heart. As an avid runner before and after surgery, Lillie is feeling better
than ever. In fact, just 10 days after her surgery, she ran the Moe's 5K
and just four short months later, she ran her first half-marathon in Miami!
Lillie has become especially passionate about encouraging women to listen to their hearts and is a local spokesperson for the Go Red For Women campaign. Read more about Lillie's
story featured in Life in Naples (pg. 56) and in a video produced by Arthrex that was featured at the 2013 Southwest Florida Go Red For Women Luncheon.
