Gluteus Medius Tear

Tears of the gluteus medius tendon are a common source of lateral hip pain and a cause of greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS). These tendons are sometimes referred to as the “rotator cuff of the hip”. Partial and full-thickness tears can be repaired in an open or endoscopic fashion with techniques similar to those used in shoulder surgery.
