Stephen S. Burkhart, MD, (San Antonio, TX) presents his latest thoughts and surgical pearls for dealing with difficult rotator cuff tears including using bony anatomy to determine the tear configuration, performing interval slides to mobilize the cuff and recognizing/repairing difficult subscapularis tears. Dr. Burkhart also discusses his preference for joint preservation versus arthroplasty for patients with irreparable cuff tears and explains his use of dermal allografts to perform Superior Capsular Reconstruction (SCR) and shares some case examples.
