El Trim-It Pin ofrece al cirujano facilidad de uso ya que el pin de 2 mm se coloca en cualquier insertador de alambre estándar. El material de PLLA ofrece mayor resistencia al corte respecto de los pins absorbibles de la competencia y permite al cirujano ubicar en forma anatómica el dedo después de la implantación, con lo que el paciente queda con una fusión del dedo en flexión estéticamente agradable. 
 
El Trim-It Pin también se pueden usar para la exostectomía del juanete del 1er metatarsiano, la resección interfalángica proximal, las fracturas de tobillo y la fijación de fragmentos condrales.

Los Trim-It Pins™ facilitan la colocación del pin. Al usar un destornillador para pins estándar, los pins bioabsorbibles se pueden perforar y colocar en un solo paso sencillo. La parte bioabsorbible del pin está situada en el insertador de pin durante la fase de perforación. La punta metálica se inserta perforando hasta sobrepasar la cortical más alejada y, luego, se corta con un forceps cortador de hueso o Hot Loop Cutte Los Trim-It Pins™ ofrecen estabilización preliminar o definitiva de pequeños fragmentos de fracturas, que involucran lesiones periarticulares. Mientras se mantiene la reducción inicial, las fracturas pueden fijarse definitivamente con placas y tornillos sin colocación de elementos bloqueantes.

Las fracturas de calcáneo suelen ser el resultado de lesiones, como una caída desde una altura o un accidente automovilístico. Arthrex ofrece muchas soluciones para estas lesiones, que incluyen:

Una osteotomía de Chevron es la técnica más común utilizada para corregir deformidades leves a moderadas del juanete. Tradicionalmente, este procedimiento se ha realizado mediante un abordaje abierto. Sin embargo, desde la llegada de la cirugía mínimamente invasiva (MIS), los cirujanos ahora tienen la opción de realizar una osteotomía de Chevron a través de pequeñas incisiones percutáneas. Después de la osteotomía, el fragmento capital se desplaza lateralmente y se fija con tornillos de compresión FT para el abordaje MIS o con tornillos de compresión PT para el abordaje abierto tradicional.

Las fracturas del pie son comunes y los metatarsos están entre los huesos que se fracturan más comúnmente. Las fracturas agudas del pie en huesos normales suelen estar causadas por la caída de objetos pesados sobre el pie o por fuerzas asociadas con traumatismos repetitivos anormales. En huesos deficientes, las fracturas por insuficiencia pueden estar provocadas por fuerzas normales. El tratamiento de una fractura metatarsiana durante una operación puede realizarse con una variedad de productos que incluyen, entre otros, tornillos canulados, tornillos lisos, pins&nbsp;Trim-It&nbsp;bio, placas bloqueantes y no bloqueantes. &nbsp;

Reparación de fracturas metatarsianas

Un hueso metatarsiano menos largo puede provocar problemas comunes en los dedos del pie. El acortamiento de un hueso metatarsiano se realiza para ayudar a evitar futuras complicaciones. Estas complicaciones incluyen el desgarro de la placa plantar, dedo martillo, dedo en garra y la deformidad del dedo cruzado por encima. Una vez ocurridas estas complicaciones, el cirujano puede escoger una osteotomía para acortamiento metatarsiano para descomprimir la articulación MTP a fin de disminuir la tensión sobre los tejidos blandos dinámicos.
