Partial tears are typically managed in a nonsurgical manner with rest, ice, pain medication, and bracing with physical therapy and activity modification. Complete ruptures will likely require a surgical intervention to reattach the tendon to bone using an open approach. There are a variety of repair techniques using either bone tunnels or suture anchors or a combination of both with the weak link arising from the tissue/suture interface.
