What does a typical day at Arthrex look like for you?

Being fairly new to the company, I haven’t really experienced what I would categorize as a typical day. My primary focus has been continuing to learn the roles and responsibilities of my position as Senior Transformation Analyst on the Technical Operations team at ALC. I’ve had the opportunity to visit and tour all of our Florida facilities. Some of my days may be heavier than others with meetings. These might include with my team to discuss strategy, with other departments for problem solving, or meeting with leadership promoting a new tool or process the team is interested in implementing. I’m always looking to learn new things and pursuing ways to build relationships with other colleagues and stakeholders.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Most of all, I enjoy knowing I’m contributing to something that enhances people’s lives. I started my career in health care before transitioning to the defense and aerospace industries. Although that’s vital work as well, let’s just say it’s great to be back in the business of healing people.

I also like working with so many dedicated professionals throughout the company. That nearly “mythical” Arthrex culture that I heard about before coming onboard really does exist. The Technical Operations team was instrumental in my onboarding here at Arthrex. I am extremely grateful for that. They also allowed me the flexibility that I needed to relocate my family across the country. It’s not just my team, but everyone I have had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with has been a great experience.

What has been a highlight during your time at Arthrex?

The first thing that comes to mind is the way people react when they ask me where I work. When I tell them, they just light up. Most times, that’s followed up by them proceeding to tell me how their relative or friend just benefitted from an Arthrex procedure. I also recently attended a major charitable event where Arthrex was a key sponsor and was prominently displayed throughout the venue. It’s nice to be associated with something so positive.

Our core value is Making People Better. How has Arthrex made you better?

I feel that Arthrex has made me better in numerous ways. I have been given the opportunity to work with and learn from true professionals working in a great environment and an incredible industry. I have been in operations and supply chain for more than 25 years. While my position here has some alignment with those roles, it has also given me the opportunity to grow in other areas, like IT and finance. In addition, Arthrex’s dedication to promoting a work-life balance as well as giving back to our community has encouraged me to strengthen my focus on family and given me a renewed sense of giving back to my community and others.

What do you do in your downtime?

BillGrandsonThe first that comes to mind is being a grandfather. I never had children of my own, but I was fortunate enough to meet an incredible woman who did. During my childhood, my grandparents were instrumental in helping shape the person I have become and I want to ensure I’m in a position to pay that forward. My first grandchild, JJ, is two and his baby brother will be here in a few weeks. I just wish I could convince his mom and dad to move a little further south than Chicago, home of the six-week summer and six-month winter. Thank goodness for FaceTime.

I’ve traveled abroad for a large portion of my career and really enjoy it; however, having just moved here from living in the Arizona desert for 20 years, my wife Julie and I enjoy getting out and exploring our new home state. Sometimes we take our Boston Terrier, Katie, along as well. I also enjoy being on the water, whether it’s fishing or just relaxing. I grew up in Kentucky so, of course, that means I’m a college basketball fan. While I’ll always bleed UK blue for my [University of Kentucky] Wildcats, I also support my new, “local” teams.
