Colin Jahnke's Unforgettable Trip to the Islands in Hawaii
name

Manufacturing Engineer Colin Jahnke recently returned from an adventure-packed Trip of a Lifetime to Hawaii to celebrate his five years of service with Arthrex where he visited two islands and various attractions. He shared about the trip:

“I would like to start by thanking the company for this amazing opportunity for myself and my wife; I have been wanting to travel to Hawaii for a very long time.

We started our trip when we landed on the island O’ahu and then traveled to our hotel in Waikiki. For our first full day in O’ahu, we rented scooters and spent our time exploring the scenery. We also traveled to Hanauma Bay to go snorkeling.

I’m really interested in World War II history, so our second day there we spent touring Pearl Harbor. It was a very humbling experience to be able to visit this site in person, especially the USS Arizona Memorial. I’m a lifelong aviation enthusiast, so it was great to see the collection at the nearby aviation museum on Ford Island as well.

For our last few days in O’ahu, we took a bus tour around the island stopping at all the great food spots along the way. We also took surfing lessons and hiked to the top of the Diamond Head crater, which had an incredible view of Waikiki and Honolulu.

From there we took a flight to the island of Maui. There, we drove the Hana Highway, which is about 60 miles long and leads to the small mountain town Hana. Along the drive, we stopped at waterfalls, caves, natural springs and a black sand beach formed by volcanic rock. We also spent time exploring the city of Paia and caught a sunset dinner cruise. Our last stop before heading home was a drive to the top of Haleakala National Park, which is a volcano about 10,000 feet in elevation.

I’m very proud to work for a company that offers such a unique benefit to its employees. My wife and I had a great vacation, and I look forward to another five years working at Arthrex before our next trip."
